ROYAL WINDSOR ROUND UP
The Royal Windsor Horse Show is one of the biggest and most prestigious shows for members of the showing world. This year, in the spectacular grounds of Windsor Castle, the show look place on it took place on 13th – 17th May. The show’s popularity is ever increasing with a reported total of 1,863 showing entries received this year, and on the Saturday more than 10,000 spectators walked through the Windsor gates.

sponsored riders Jayne Ross and Jo and Holly Bates all had horses competing at
Royal Windsor this year. The first day offered spectator’s free entry to the show, a perfect start
to five day equine extravaganza. Showing, dressage, show jumping and driving filled the itinerary for the day, even Her Majesty The Queen
was in attendance. Jayne Ross had four rides on Wednesday, starting with
Time2Reflect, owned by Diana Stennett, who was placed second in his Lightweight
Hunter class and Bloomfield Excelsior, took first place in the Heavyweight
Hunter class and, Bloomfield Tetrarch, owned by Drs Bardo and Ross, was placed
4th in the Novice Lightweight Hunter. Later in the day, Time2Reflect
has a second victory, taking first place in the Small Hunter class. The success
continued in the afternoon with Holly Dolly IV, owned by Diana Stennett, winning
the Ladies Hunter Class.

The rain clouds drew in on Thursday morning for the second day of competition, but the weather did not dampen the riders’ spirit. It was a great day for the Bates team with Dowhills Snow Patrol, owned by Jessica Williams, coming second in the coloured non-native pony class. Then Lucy Bridgwater’s Volatis Oriana came second in the coloured non-native horse class and went in to the championship ring, for the second consecutive year. Jayne Ross took the top spot in the Coloured, Non-native class with Aidensfield Rupert, owned by Carol Bardo. The judges and the crowd saw a fantastic ride from all despite the unpleasant weather.

Friday lunch time saw Jayne Ross in the Frogmore Arena for the Heavy Weight Cob class with Carlo Bardo’s, Its Abracobdabra, where they took first place. Whilst over in the Copper Horse Arena, The Tattersalls and ROR Thoroughbred Ridden Show Horse class was taking place. Serena Leckie’s Sinnbad was second in the class, a wonderful result for the team as it was only his second show this year. Later in the day Fantastic Gift, owned by Diane Stennett, was runner up on the Small Hack Class with Jayne.

The
sun was shining on Saturday as spectators indulged in another fantastic day of
competition and performances. World-class show jumpers battled it out in the Castle
arena and the gruelling phase of the Land Rover International Driving Grand
Prix drew in the crowds.
