Ian and Heather Cobb have been in the equestrian industry for many years, and are knowledgeable about varying disciplines. Ian has been in the equine industry for around 45 years, and for 3 years he worked for Marion Mould, who won a silver medal at the Olympics on Stroller. About 30 years ago Ian and Heather Cobb set up their own business at Kilbrannan Stud in Pulborough, where they break, produce and breed horses, with their own stallion, Spendent. They also have full livery for Hunters, Eventers, Race horses: horses of all shapes and sizes! For five years Heather competed, Show Hunters, Lightweights, and Side Saddle competitively qualifying for HOYS. Both Ian and Heather showed Mare’s and Foals together. Eventually they realised where there passion lied, in Horse Racing. Ian and Heather train point to pointers, Heather is also a permit holder so can run horses in National Hunt racing.
At Point to Points and Race meetings the horses are paraded in the paddock before the jockeys mount. At the majority of meetings a prize is awarded to the ‘Best Turned Out’ which is a prize that the Kilbrannan Stud Team takes seriously. The Cobb’s have been using Absorbine Liquid Embrocation for many years now and Ian and Heather both believe it is a “quality multiple purpose product”. The day before the horses race they are given a hot towel wash down, the embrocation is diluted in a bucket of warm water, with a clean towel to soak the liquid up which is briefly rung out before rubbed thoroughly all over the horses body. Ian says “it is brilliant for relaxing the horse’s muscles, which is essential for performance as the horse should be supple, not sore”. Groom, Hannah Jacobs has worked for the Cobb’s for nearly three years feels that it is an “effective and easy way to lift the dirt from their coats that you wouldn’t even know was there, a groom shouldn’t be without it!”.
The liquid is also used on injured horses or horses with ‘puffy’ legs, some of the older horse’s legs go a bit puffy when they’ve come back in from a winter break and have to start standing in stables again without pottering around the field. It is also used when the horses have been cantering, jumping or galloping on hard ground, this goes for all horses not just their race horses, the liquid is applied to their legs undiluted to support blood circulation. Heather says “we have also used it on horses with minor joint strains, because it seems to help ease stiff joints”.

Daughter, Gemma Cobb who competes in British Eventing, British Show Jumping and Point to Pointing finds the Embrocation Gel very useful and takes it to race meetings and events, because it is “quick and easy to apply to your adrenalin filled horse, to help cool there legs quickly, and prevent them from having tired and jarred legs”.
The Kilbrannan Stud Team want there horses to be turned out well and perform to their best. Absorbine Embrocation helps them do this not only by soothing sore muscles and joints but lifting the dirt from their coats to give a clean shine.
